Aaahhhh... the pictures just do not do this fabric justice. I found it on fabricdepot.com. I ordered 4 yards, but they called me and said they only had 2 and 5/8 yards left. By then I had fallen in love with the fabric and the dress that I could potentially make out of it, so I told them I still wanted it and started re-thinking my dress design. When I got the fabric in the mail all I could do was stare at it for a while because it's just that gorgeous and then I did some calculating and realized that I probably would still have enough fabric to complete my original design. I'm so glad I did.

The construction on this dress is a little iffy in places. Because the bodice is two independent pieces that overlap in the front it was hard to get them to lay correctly and to get the fit right. However, the good part of this print being so busy is that it masks the trouble spots a bit.

My original design featured a solid colored sash the same cream color as the ruffle on the bodice, but once I had the dress mostly finished I realized that I didn't quite like the way the cream sash looked. Instead I made a belt out of the same fabric as the rest of the dress. It's hard to see, but it cinches the waist just a bit like I wanted, and it adds a bit more texture.

I couldn't decide whether to call this Wa Lolita, or just a kimono print jumperskirt, but... I had already put Wa Lolita on the picture collage, so I guess I'll leave it as that for now. :p
